In mediation, innovative solutions can be found to maintain future relations between parties. The parties can meet with a mediator at a convenient location. The mediator will list the respective parties position, concerns, or motivations and can be given information in confidence. They will move between the parties to bring them together in agreement. Nothing is binding or can be relied upon in subsequent proceedings until an agreement has been reached.
Unlike other forms of dispute resolution, mediation is about enabling the parties to come to their own agreement. Accordingly, mediation can allow issues beyond the dispute itself to be taken into account. Mediation is a fast track method of dispute resolution. It can be organised quickly and usually takes a day of meetings to conclude.
